Good Win v Boyne for U’15’s
Dundalk U’15’s 34 Boyne U’15’s 31
A cracking match at Mill Road on Saturday saw Dundalk just edge what was a great encounter against a very good Boyne side in a North East League match that ebbed and flowed right to the end. Having conceded a very soft opening score Dundalk then played about 15 minutes of high quality rugby with the forwards providing a very solid platform for the backs to work from running in a number of very good scores.
However Boyne then really picked up the pace and the physicality and put Dundalk under constant pressure to score some very well constructed tries of their own. The second half would see more of the same as two sides determined to open up at every opportunity continued to provide a real nail biter with Dundalk finishing marginally stronger to secure the points in a game the was never really over until the final whistle went.
Dundalk will take some positives from their overall performance however they will be very unhappy with much of their defence work and organisation with tackling at times and the lack of physicality both going forward and in defence being an area that will require a lot of very hard graft over the coming season. The ability is there but sometimes the fire is not.
Much more will be expected for next weeks trip to Skerries RFC!
